Temporary fencing hire

Hot-dip galvanised 2.4 m × 2.1 m mesh panels with concrete-filled bases and galvanised clamps. It’s the familiar anti-climb mesh fencing you see around building sites and events, hired for as long as your job needs it.

The equipment

What’s in a temporary fence

A temporary fence line is made of three parts that work together:

Panels2.4 m wide × 2.1 m high, hot-dip galvanised. 2.5 mm mesh wire with 150 × 60 mm anti-climb mesh on a 32 mm frame tube. About 10 kg each. Each panel covers 2.4 m of fence line.
BasesOrange plastic shells filled with concrete, about 26 kg each. The panel uprights sit in the base, so the fence stands without digging. Neighbouring panels share a base where they meet.
ClampsGalvanised clamps sized for the 32 mm frame tube, locking neighbouring panels together so the line acts as one continuous fence.
Gates & staysAvailable on request. Ask when you request a quote.

Because nothing is dug in, temporary fencing can go up on most ground surfaces and be moved or extended as your site changes.

Working out quantities

A quick rule of thumb

Panels

Fence length in metres ÷ 2.4, rounded up. A 50 m run is about 21 panels.

Bases

For a straight run, roughly one more base than panels. A fully closed perimeter needs about one base per panel.

Clamps

At least one clamp per join between panels. Exposed or windy sites may need extra support; stays are available on request.

These are estimates to help you plan. We’ll confirm the exact quantities for your layout when we quote. See the full guide with worked examples →

What to specify

What we need to know to quote

  1. Site location. Suburb or full address, plus any access limits such as narrow streets, gate codes, steep driveways or delivery windows.
  2. Fence length or panel count. Approximate metres of fence line, a panel count, or a site plan with the line marked.
  3. Hire start date and duration. When you need it up and roughly how long for. Hire is charged by the week.
  4. Project type. Construction, civil, event, residential or something else.
  5. Openings. Where people or vehicles need to get through. Gates are available on request.
  6. Delivery and installation. Whether you need us to deliver, install and collect, or only some of these. These are quoted separately from the panel hire.
  7. Site conditions. Ground surface, slope, wind exposure, and whether shade cloth or signage will be attached.
